What does "OFTP" stand for?
OFTP is the protocol specified by VDA and Odette for exchanging files between industrial and commercial partners. OFTP provides secure binary file transfer.
What is "ipOFTP"?
ipOFTP is our implementation of the OFTP protocol. You receive ipOFTP as a fully configured device with a web interface—all you need to do is set it up and connect it to your network.
What if my customer needs a different protocol?
ipOFTP offers all protocols as options. Notable examples include AS2 and SFTP.
Which file types can be sent and received with ipOFTP?
You can send and receive any type of file. Communication is not restricted to VDA and EDIFCT format files..
How large can the transferred files be?
There is no file size limit with ipOFTP. Files are transferred unchanged, just as if you were copying a file from one folder to another on your computer.
Where are the ipOFTP cloud servers located?
ipOFTP does not use cloud servers. Data is transferred directly from one communication partner to another without being temporarily stored.
Is ipOFTP GDPR-compliant?
Yes. The data is transmitted directly to your communication partner. The data is not stored temporarily anywhere and is transmitted in encrypted form.
Is ipOFTP quantum-computer-secure?
Yes. ipOFTP already uses quantum-secure cryptography.
Can I integrate ipOFTP with my ERP/PPS system?
Yes. ipOFTP handles the data transfer. Your ERP system sends a file by copying it to a shared folder in the ipOFTP communication box. Conversely, it receives a file by reading it from the incoming shared folder.
Can I configure and administer ipOFTP myself?
Yes. When you access the ipOFTP communication box using a browser, you'll see a management interface similar to that of a router. Also ipOFTP is an open Linux system with graphical user interface. You may change all the configurations as needed.
